Forbes named Timken one of its best managed companies, and it was one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2004 according to Business Ethics.


Mr. Griffith joined the Timken company in 1984 as plant manager and vice president - manufacturing in North America and managing director of the company's business in Australia. From 1996 to 1999, he led the automotive business in North America and had regional responsibility for the company's businesses in Asia and Latin America. He had additional responsibility for the company's rail business from 1996 to 1998. Mr. Griffith was elected president and chief operating officer and a director in 1999 and was elected chief executive officer in 2002.

He received a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering and an MBA from Stanford University. He is a member of the executive committee and board of trustees of the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI, a member of the Management Executives' Society, a member of the board of trustees of Mount Union College, and a member of the board of directors of Goodrich Corporation.
